I Yet Live

Phew, life's sure being life. But enough of that.

Delicious ideas are boiling to the surface. I mentioned the idea of a Patreon last time, since it'd allow me to write something purer, something that doesn't have to fit into the Amazon short story mold. I don't know if that'll ever be a reality, but, frankly, I have both more extreme and less extreme things I want to write. Those of you that have been with me a long time, or have read back, may remember how a naga died in The Bodyguard.

That sort of thing is pushing the boundaries very far. But, sometimes, I want to. Exploring objectification to that level.

On the other hand, I want so very much to launch into a series of explorations of a D/s relationship. More of a peek under the hood, I suppose, than what it more often than not turns into. There's only so much you can fit into 5.000 - 10.000 words.

Still, have no fear. The princesses and the breeding aren't going away. I just promised myself that I'd write for me this time, and I do love those kinds of things. They're just not my only loves. In any case, I have a private commission to finish before any of this can be realized, but know that these things will be written when there is time. I want to. Honestly, I wrote for money for a while, and obviously there is still an element of that to it, but even if I can't make money off the above-mentioned ideas, I'm going to write them regardless.

Does anyone even still check this blog?

Well, if you do, here I am. It has been a while, and I have private work to catch up on. However, once that's taken care of, I have plans. I will be opening up commissions with a new pricing scheme once the private work is taken care of, and begin writing to publish again.

What I'd like most of all, but likely don't have the audience for, is to open up a Patreon so I could write without the moderation required for Amazon. A small part of me wants to use those writing skills to create a game in the vein of Corruption of Champions or Trials in Tainted Space, which I could potentially use the Patreon for as well.

We'll see, I suppose. For the moment, just hold tight. It's nice to come back to the comments on the prior post.

Edit: And, reading this as well as the prior post, a question struck me: Why should we believe you this time, Ick/Maria?

Well, to be perfectly honest, I need extra money coming in.

What kinks would you like to see me write?

Something I haven't done in the past is ask you guys specifically what you like reading from me. So, I am asking now: What kinks do you like the most from me? Bearing in mind that we are still talking my usual gender pairings.

I've personally observed that stories with princesses seem to get a few more sales on average, and the same seems to hold for stories with cheating. I had plans to combine these two in a 5-part series in the future before the break, but I haven't written any of it yet.

Instead of just charging ahead with my own ideas, I thought I'd at least give the chance for any loyal fans still reading to make their voice heard. Bear in mind that this is not a promise to write whatever is suggested. I will listen, I will consider what's said, and then I will write it if I feel it works.

A brief disclaimer: If you've read last week's post, you know that I will be focusing on finishing up my current outstanding commission, and only then begin to move back into publishing other stuff. This is for when I do, not before.

Cleanup

This blog is a total mess as I write this. I'm aware of that. A long time ago, I swore that I would stop using this author blog as a personal feelings dump, and I shan't start doing that again now. The simple fact of the matter is that I had precautions in place, but I may just have to face the fact that when my mood darkens, it doesn't matter if the only thing I have to do is press submit on a finished story. It just won't happen.

Either way, I can't and won't promise anything about releases right now. I do have things written that will be published eventually. For now, though, I will slowly clean up this blog, and I will finish my outstanding commission duties. I should also take this opportunity to restate that commissions are closed. The treatment I'd offer simply isn't fair to any possible commissioners, so I won't put people in that position. I'm immensely flattered by those that asked, but I have to be realistic with myself. I have a commission going on right now that I don't even know the start date of anymore, but it is embarrassingly long ago. I should not have put them through it, and I will not put anyone else through that.

There were a few comments in my absence. To you, thank you. It's hard to be sure about anything when you're in the trenches. To come back and read them is encouraging. They will likely disappear over the next few days as I clean up posts that were scheduled to auto-post, but were never finished and just auto-posted in my absence. I still very much appreciate any words from people who appreciate my writings, trust me.

Fetish Friday #12

There should be some exciting image here, but due to Blogger updating their policies, I can no longer properly continue this series. I will also go back and remove the pictures from the old posts in a week or two. Thus, if you'd like to keep one, now's the time to see to that.

In all likelihood, I will be moving the blog to wordpress in the near future. It's beyond clear that Blogger doesn't want adult content around even though they don't want to come right out and say so, so staying will only mean more stupidity coming my way. More updates on this, and the future new address, in due time.

Update on Amazon/Kindle Exclusivity

I have a longer and more analytic post coming up in a good while regarding this topic, but I just thought I'd let you all know now. I'm getting out of Kindle Select, and Kindle Unlimited, as soon as I can. I'll put the Dark Lust books into it for one period and then let them fall out, if only because I planned a few freebie giveaways of the first book. I'll advertise those via the newsletter if you're interested.

Basically, in spite of releasing new material for the first time in over 6 months, my sales are stagnating and very, very unreliable. And somehow, joining Kindle Select seems to have done something to the rest of my titles. Their rankings have all sunk like a rock. On top of all this, I haven't managed to get anywhere near enough borrows to compensate for not releasing the stories on other vendors.

If I sound a little annoyed, it's because I am. Not at anyone, I suppose. Just at me. For doing this stupid thing. In any case, once the Dark Lust series has had its time in Kindle Select, I'll be putting them up on other sites. This means that April and May will see a good deal more publishing activity than otherwise scheduled, though it'll just be releasing stuff that's already on Amazon.

To conclude: I won't be continuing with Amazon exclusivity once the Dark Lust series is concluded. It has turned out to not be worth it in the slightest.

It's difficult to follow last week, honestly. Cassandra has a special place in my heart, at least for now. While the game is still fresh. But we must move on in life. Or, in this instance, a little back in time. When I first started writing the Dark Lust series, the above picture served as part of my inspiration for Ysiel. At least, initially. I'm always a bit hesitant to reveal my sources on characters, since people can imagine them extremely differently.

Ever Wondered Why I Don't Write Lesbian Erotica?

If you've read my stuff, certainly my newer stuff, maybe you've spotted that I can't really help but put in the occasional terrible groaner. If you haven't spotted that, either you're acclimatized, or they aren't as terrible as I think.

You know why I don't write lesbian erotica? It's actually not because it doesn't sell well. My general amazon category, transgender, also isn't the biggest seller. I just write it because I love what I write. No, the reason I don't write lesbian erotica is that I'd fall victim EVEN MORE to horrible, horrible... Awesome horrible lines like the above.

In fact, a lot of it would probably just end up being nameswapped Avatar: The Legend of Korra fanfic. Then again, I suppose I could just graft a dick on one of them. Hmm...

Last week was some girl-abs. This week... You have no idea how much I wanted this to happen when I played DA:I. Except the other way around, with my elfquisitor in Cassandra's position, and Cassandra...

It just needs to be proof read, and then it'll be published later on. You can see when, exactly, in the post just prior to this one. No more waiting! Daphne, Selma and Melanie will finally have their well-deserved conclusion.

Publishing Schedule (Jan-May)

One of the things I wanted to do in this new year was plan and schedule more. Try to treat writing with more professionalism. Build consistency. In order to give myself time to build this up properly, release schedule was reduced to once every 2 weeks. To accomplish it, I also planned my releases well into the future. Because of that, I can now give you the schedule for story releases in the first part (Winter/Spring) of 2015.

January:

February:
--8th: Forestbound (Dark Lust #2)
--22nd: Soulbound (Dark Lust #3)

--14th: Part 1 of a new series. It's going to involve a princess, that's all I can say right now. Still in the idea phase.



Notes: As you can see, if you'd prefer to get a bit more value for money, you can hold off on buying my titles until the bundles release. It just involves waiting, which depends on whether you -can- wait for my awesome writings or not. :d

Typically the bundle will be about 1½ month after the final title of the series releases, but it can vary. Also, while bundles likely won't be in Kindle Unlimited, they will still be Amazon exclusive due to the stories within being, well, Amazon exclusive. For now, at least.

Lastly, the schedule of one story every 2 weeks is not necessarily permanent. I am trying to build up a solid backlog to defend against real life happening, and to give time for longer projects down the line. Anything written once I have a solid 6-month buffer will instead be inserted into the schedule on no-release Sundays. Sadly, this is unlikely to happen until around July at the absolute earliest. In all likelihood, it's something that may happen moving into autumn and winter again.

My primary concern remains eliminating those stupid 6-month periods of no content published. And while it sucks in the moment, in the middle of waiting, I'm sure you also appreciate a steady stream of content from me. Even if my life should turn upside down, you won't be impacted.
